Can you save our beloved Village Hall and Sellors’ Playing field from being sold off?

Come back soon to find out how you can help us save the Ruddington Village Hall and Sellor’s Playing Field.

On the 27th July the Parish Council will be distributing a questionnaire which will determine the future of these two fantastic village amenities. We’ll be providing you with as much information as we can to help you make an informed decision.

  1. My husband and I will be moving into the village this Thursday. We want to do all we can to help especially since my good friend looks out on to the fields where Bloor is hoping to build. This will not only affect many peoples outlook and wellbeing but will also make a difference to the villages dynamics.

  2. Comments on the RPC Consultation Document.

Firstly it is obvious from the way it has been written that those who produced it are in favour of selling the Playing Field and the Village Hall.
It is stated that 250 houses have to be built in and around Ruddington. Is this enforceable even if there are no suitable areas available. The Asher Lane end is unsuitable due to limited access and the Wilford Road end get flooded as well as being precious Green Belt. So the RBC need to look elsewhere. There is no least worst option available. All the space that has been available has been used up over recent years. Hopefully the Bloors proposal will be turned down so the selling of Sellors Field becomes irrelevant. Which will be much appreciated by the many locals who use this gifted park.
To walk 240 metres to a new area in under 3 minutes it would necessitate walking at 4mph including crossing new roads. The walk to the proposed new Village Hall would take much longer.
I think some of the myths listed by RPC are their own invention so that they can be dismissed.
Although it may have been Bloors who made the first approach it was kept secret and the first Ruddington Residents heard of it was when Bloors presented the plans at their exhibition.
A similar situation occurred with the Bloors signboard when only two Councillors and the Clerk negotiated with Bloors. For this they were admonished.
Although the RPC at present have no intention of selling the allotments, once the Village Hall has gone, Bloors or others will be sure to come in with another tempting offer. So we will have another repeat situation.
The RPC may not have already agreed to sell Sellors Field, but their document makes it quite clear that they would be happy to do so.
The estimated cost of refurbishing the Village Hall seems excessive, we need to see quotations to substantiate this. The increases in Council Tax also need to be substantiated as they are included to sway opinion. It is a vote on what is best for the village not on Council Tax.
I hope that this issue is not going to split the village, we must all stick together on this.
If areas for development are unsuitable they should be rejected whether they are at the South or North end of Ruddington.
    Please reject this biased report.
